Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

1. Our Approach

The Reno Firefighters Local 731 Benevolent Fund (the “Fund,” “we,” or “us”) is a Nevada 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We take privacy seriously and collect as little information as possible to run this website and our mission. This page explains what we do — and just as importantly, what we don’t.

2. What We Don’t Do

To be clear up front:

  • We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, or behavioral tracking on this site.
  • We do not set tracking cookies. The only cookie we may set is a standard session cookie used by the Laravel framework to keep the site working.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information — ever.
  • We do not build profiles of visitors or share information with data brokers.

3. Information We May Collect

Information You Send Us

If you email us, we will see your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use that information only to respond to you.

Standard Server Logs

Our web host may keep routine server access logs containing IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs, and user-agent strings. These logs exist for security and troubleshooting and are retained only as long as our host considers operationally necessary.

Donations and Assistance Requests

When you donate or submit an assistance request, that information is collected and handled by the third-party services described in the next section. The Fund receives only what those services pass through to us (for example, the donor name and contact info Zeffy provides for donation receipts; the contents of an assistance request submitted via Google Forms).

4. Third-Party Services

A handful of third parties power specific functions of the Site. Their own privacy policies govern data they collect directly from you:

  • Zeffy — donation processing. Handles your payment details; we never see card or bank information. See Zeffy’s privacy policy.
  • Google Forms — assistance request submissions. The form and its responses are stored in Google’s systems and governed by Google’s privacy policy.
  • Bunny Fonts — typography. Serves the fonts used on this Site. Bunny Fonts is a privacy-friendly font CDN that does not log IP addresses or set tracking cookies. See fonts.bunny.net.

5. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we have to:

  • Respond to messages, donation inquiries, and assistance requests;
  • Acknowledge donations and provide tax receipts where applicable;
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the Site;
  • Comply with legal obligations applicable to a registered nonprofit.

6. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. We only share information when:

  • It is necessary to deliver a service you initiated (for example, the donation processor needs your contact details to send a receipt);
  • We are legally required to do so by valid legal process;
  • You have given us explicit consent.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information in our care, including HTTPS for all traffic to the Site. No system is perfectly secure, but the volume of personal data we hold is intentionally small to limit risk.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information we hold about you, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of that information. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below.

Nevada residents: Under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A, you may direct us not to sell your covered information. We don’t sell personal information at all, so this is honored by default — but if you want explicit confirmation, contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page; we encourage you to review it periodically.
